This week, the RI House passed a bill approving special license plates for Red Sox and Patriots fans. Now, sure, you can already find these plates in Massachusetts. But if the Senate approves the measure, Rhode Islanders will finally be able to tell the people they’re cutting off on I-95 which sports teams they support.
For us, the question of “Sox plates or Pats plates?” is hard enough. But while we’ve got the state’s legislators on our side, let’s get some more ideas on the table. If you’ve got a real eye-popper of a vanity plate, you could win a $25 gift certificate to Hooters.
In addition to vanity license plates for the RI Community Food Bank, the Audubon Society, and Save the Bay, Rhode Islanders will soon be able to pay for plates honoring WaterFire and, if the Senate OKs them, the Red Sox and New England Patriots. If you could put anything on a license plate, what would it be? Clever sayings? LOLcat pictures? The WBRU logo? It can be a picture, text, or a combination of the two – be creative! If we like your answer, you could win a $25 gift certificate to Hooters!

I do not like Vanity Plates for many of the same reasons I do not like Hooters. Neither generate a positive reflection on the consumer.
