Hello, and welcome to the Fashionably Late Edition of the Weekly Blog Round-Up. Don’t worry, we may not be up by noon this week, but we still have all the good stuff: Each week, we highlight the top five posts from the past week on the news blog, as well as five awesome things from other websites. Let’s go!
From the News Blog
1) Have you checked out our newly added feature, This Week in Politics, yet? We’ve been getting a lot of clicks from The Twitter, and for good reason. Take a look if you haven’t already!
2) The Best Band You’ve Never Heard Of: Elbow – another recently added feature, this one from our Entertainment News reporter Goose. This week, he profiles the band Elbow, with “guitars that seem to wander with a point, huge crescendos throughout the songs, and interjections of both keyboard and organ; in case it wasn’t clear, this band is not your stereotypical four-piece rock band.”
3) Two New England sports stories are next – first, we have this piece about Red Sox Rehabs from our weekly show, the Sports Rundown. The Rundown airs every Saturday at noon.
4) Milestone Mania as Revs Ravage Red Bulls 4-0 – a great report, with audio clips, from our Sports reporter Becs.
5) And finally, here’s a piece I wrote – American journalists sentenced to 12 years of hard labor in North Korea
Five Awesome Things
1) For a while now, I’ve preferred Conan O’Brien to Jay Leno, and I think I’ve finally figured out why: Conan’s new Tonight Show set sure looks familiar…and, of course, CoCo talked about this on-air after people started talking about it online. Super.
2) Speaking of shows that are inspired by other shows: 30 Rock is a rip-off of the Muppet Show!
3) Don’t you wish you had an easy way to punctuate life’s most dramatic moments with a sound effect? Well, if you have ever wished for such a thing, consider your wish granted: introducing The Drama Button.
4) I’ll keep it simple: Best. Transformers. T-shirt. EVER.
5) And finally, one of the finest videos ever produced by the always-on jesters at the Onion News Network: Obama drastically scales back goals for America after visiting Denny’s.
