Paw Sox

Buchholz Back in Boston

Clay Buchholz got the call yesterday that he is going to return to Boston for the first time this season.  The right hander is 7-2 with a 2.36 ERA for the PawSox this season. wbrusummerpics-032

Buchholz was glorified after 2007 when he went 3-1 with a 1.59 ERA including a no hitter for the Red Sox.  Last season he struggled going 2-9 with a 6.75 ERA before being sent all the way down to AA-Portland.  Buchholz has focused and tried to stay positive all season while waiting for this opportunity.  He will open up the second half of the season for the Sox on Friday in Toronto.

While Buchholz waits to redeem himself, recent call up Aaron Bates picked up his first major league hit yesterday.  Bates went 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.  It was a surprise when Bates was called up, since he was in the midst of an 0-29 slump in Pawtucket.  He will return to the PawSox after the All Star Break since Mike Lowell and Jed Lowrie will be activated off the DL.
