Swine flu has caused a second fatality in RI. A middle aged woman in Providence County was the second victim. The virus took its first victim in June, a teenage girl from Kent County.
So far, 58 cases of swine flu have been found in RI since the outbreak. Medical officials say that most cases of the flu are mild, the exception being patients with underlying medical conditions.
David Gifford, Director of the State Department of Health, listed heart disease, lung disease, diabetes and pregnancy as some conditions that may increase the risk for more serious complications, or death.
