Government sources say U.S. intelligence agencies knew the alleged Fort Hood shooter had contacted al-Qaeda before Thursday’s deadly rampage. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan reportedly tried to contact people connected with the terrorist organization, who in turn gave that information to federal officials.
At this point it’s not known what the agencies did with that information.
Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and wounding more than 30 others at Fort Hood. He was shot four times by a police officer at the Army post and remains hospitalized in San Antonio. Fort Hood will hold a memorial for the victims on Tuesday.
