Same-sex couples won’t be able to plan their partners’ funerals anytime soon. Governor Carcieri yesterday vetoed a bill that would have allowed same-sex domestic partners the same funeral-planning rights as married couples, calling it part of an “erosion of the traditional values of marriage.” This bill was the only one to pass the General Assembly of several addressing same-sex couples this year.
