Director of Operations for Providence, Alix Ogden, refutes the claims that residents were not well-informed before the program was implemented three weeks ago. “We spent a month educating all of our residents,” Ogden told WPRI. “We even went out over the summer to community meetings.”
However, some residents say that they are following the rules, but their trash has not been picked up.
City Councillors have called for the city to clean up the mess before Thanksgiving, and reportedly stopped short last Thursday of a resolution to suspend the program. [WPRI]
