Warren Miller has produced one ski documentary a year for sixty years. This year’s film, Dynasty, celebrates the 60th anniversary by showcasing the most intense, memorable clips as well as a hint of what’s to come in the future of skiing. Older ski pioneers are reunited and fresh-faced talent is introduced in this feature length film narrated and hosted by the always classy Jonny Moseley. The film tours nationally, so the only time you can catch it locally is tonight at the Avon Cinema. (There was a showing yesterday, but that doesn’t help you) There are showings at 6 pm and 9 pm.

Is it just me, or is “Christmas season” started earlier and earlier? I was seeing Christmas stuff as soon as the Halloween candy went on clearance. Nevertheless, Thanksgiving is next week so it is truly acceptable to be holiday shopping. The RISD student holiday sale has its grand opening tonight at 232 Westminster Street (a location that changes its name every few months now). Give your loved ones some truly unique art  - it could go either way: give your aunt something obscure as revenge for the corny figurines she gives you, or pick up something gorgeous for the person who always gets you the perfect gift. The opening party starts at 7 pm, but the store will be open until December 11.

Ladies and Gentlemen… roll up your sleeves… for the 4th Annual Rhode Island Arm Wrestling Championships. And yes, I said ladies because there are competitions for both sexes. There are a few different categories you can enter: men’s and women’s right hand, left, and various weight classes within those categories. Yes, weight classes! Serious business, folks. The entrance fee is $20. Be one of the first 25 entrants and get a free t-shirt.  And because I know you were wondering, yes, this event is sanctioned by the International Arm Wrestling Federation. The competition takes place 1 pm at Bailey’s Pub, 1910 Smith St, North Providence.
