Gov. Patrick tries to plant seeds of job growth in MA

Gov. Deval Patrick and legislative leaders in Massachusetts are rolling out plans they hope will encourage job growth by easing pressure on businesses.
Patrick is recommending freezing unemployment insurance rates and setting aside up to $25 million for small businesses loans.

Super Bowl XLIV was most-watched TV program in history

Last night’s Super Bowl has scored a historic ratings touchdown.
The Nielsen Company reports 106.5 million people tuned in to see the Saints beat the Colts 31-17. 68 percent of American households that had a TV set turned on were watching the game.
The game beat the former Nielsen record-holder, the finale of MASH in 1983.

Brown hits applications record

Students are itching to get to Brown. Applications to the Ivy League school have hit a record 30,000 for 935 remaining slots in the freshman class. The school has already admitted 550 freshmen through the early-decision process. Officials say just nine percent of applicants will be accepted.
