Rhode Island’s next governor could sign gay marriage into law. Three of the candidates are promising they’ll sign a bill if it reaches their desk. Advocacy group Marriage Equality Rhode Island has invited Democrats Patrick Lynch and Frank Caprio and Independent Lincoln Chafee to make their promise public at an upcoming rally. Republican John Robitaille hasn’t responded to the group but says he might support domestic partnerships.
