Teachers laid off in E. Providence

More than 100 teachers in East Providence are losing their jobs. The Providence Journal reports the superintendent has recommended laying of 105 people for the next school year – just over 20 percent of the district’s teachers. He cites cuts in state aid that could cost the city $1.4 million.
