In light of the city’s financial crisis, Woonsocket is shutting off up to a third of the city’s streetlights. A Woonsocket official says the measure will save the city up to one hundred and twenty thousand dollars. He added that little savings would be seen at first, since National Grid is charging the city a shutoff fee of twenty-five dollars per fixture.
