Anti-Marriage Equality Activist Disses Chafee

The battle over marriage equality in Rhode Island has officially begun. According to Not for Nothing, Christopher Plante, the head of the Rhode Island chapter of the National Organization for Marriage,  took a shot at Governor Chafee today, calling him an ‘accidental governor’ after winning 36% of the vote. Chafee has expressed strong support for marriage equality, urging the General Assembly to handle that issue before moving on to the budget. The group announced it will launch a television advertising campaign against marriage rights for same-sex couples.

  2. It’s time for equality. Did we put desegregation to a vote? Did we vote on whether African Americans could eat at the same restaurants as Caucasians?

It’s time we recognize that love and marriage are important parts of our culture, and not limited to 1 man and 1 woman to procreate. What about those heterosexual couples who choose not to have children; should they not be allowed to marry.

Time to show who we are as a state, and as a country. Inclusive, focused on doing what’s right, and affording equality.
