The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. haw awarded $1.4 to 8 research teams in Rhode Island.

This is the fifth year the EDC’s Science and Technology Advisory Council awarded these grants.

According to an index by the Milken Institute, Rhode Island slipped 12 places to No. 22 in science and technology economic development.

Massachusetts is ranked No. 1.
