Libyan rebels reject ceasefire proposal

Libyan rebels have rejected a ceasefire proposal from African mediators.

They say the proposal does not guarantee that Moammar Gaddafi will give up power, and they do not trust Gaddafi to uphold the truce. European leaders are strongly backing the rebels’ position, and Italy’s foreign minister notes that Gaddafi has already broken more than one promise to halt the violence.
