In the Pulse for March 3rd, WBRU’s Jake Maxon looks into State Representative Dan Gordon’s threat to defund schools in Tiverton because of a student group at Tiverton High School that promotes understanding and tolerance of the gay community. Jake interviewed the groups founder, Cynda Martin, and its faculty adviser, Mr. Peter Forrest, to get their reaction to Gordon’s threats.

  1. So let me get this straight (so to speak)… this state representative is threatening to defund schools that allow a type of club that they are required under FEDERAL law to allow? Gordon needs to read up on the Equal Access Act.

  3. What else would you expect from a republican, who doesnt give a $#@! if the school ends up with its own Tyler Clementi

That kind of excuse he made is common and comes from website of eg the Family Research Council and others like them, who are on the Southern Poverty Law center list of hate groups.

Lets everyone give him hell and fix this problem.

GSAs are simply groups where both gay and str8 kids can get to know each other in a non-confrontational way, and discover that both of them are good people.
