A military officer from the United Arab Emirates accused of keeping an unpaid foreign servant while attending the Naval War College in Newport, has been arrested by federal officials after he boarded an international flight at Kennedy Airport in New York.

Col. Arif Al-Ali pleaded not guilty last week to charges of luring and confining a Filipino servant to his house and refusing to pay her.

A judge released Al-Ali, but restricted Al-Ali from leaving the state before a trial could go forward.

U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement arrested Al-Ali as he and his family tried to board a non-stop flight back to the UAE.

Al-Ali is expected to return to Rhode Island to face a judge over the violation.
