If you’re a direct pay customer with Blue Cross Blue Shield, you may actually
pay less this year for your insurance costs. The Rhode Island branch of the large insurance company attempted to raise rates by 2.4 percent this year, only to have that number cut down by 1.1. percent by state Health Care Commissioner Chris Koller. Blue Cross Blue Shield can either accept Koller’s rate request or take the case to the State Supreme Court.
