WPRI reports that the Guard received a distress call from a sailboat at 1 this afternoon. The two men and their dogs were aboard the boat as it was sinking. The Coast Guard Station Castle Hill launched a 45-foot response boat, a Cutter Tigershark and a Jayhawk helicopter to the sinking vessel, which was about 10 miles off Newport’s coast. The Coast Guard was able to secure the passengers and save the sinking vessel.
