Providence could be getting an Izod Indy Car race, at least if Mayor Angel Taveras has his way. The maligned mayor was seen talking to IndyCar’s Randy Bernard at the recent Baltimore event held on Labor Day weekend. This idea was once brought to the table by ex-mayor Buddy Cianci, but the event never actually came to pass. The current plans for the race would cycle through the hilly streets of the city, past the State House, Brown University, and over the Blackstone River Canal.
