Station Nightclub Victims to Receive Settlement Money

Victims of the deadly 2003 Station nightclub fire could soon see their settlement money.  The Providence Journal reports that a lawyer representing the plaintiffs told a federal judge today that about 550 people will get settlement checks.  If the judge approves his plan, most of the settlement money should be distributed by mid-June.

The Rhode Island chapter of the ACLU says Rhode Islanders seeking emergency food assistance are facing
delays.
The agency claims that nearly 3 out of 10 Rhode Islanders are forced to wait too long for access to food stamps.
The ACLU sued the state Department of Human Services last July for delaying to help families in need.
